DSOC Extends a Warm Welcome to the Berkley Dems! ***

Fear. Hopelessness. Anger. Hatred. Exhaustion. Political events at home and abroad, like the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade or the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, have evoked a wide range of emotions and reactions. And with social media and streaming platforms bringing us nonstop coverage of these events as they unfold, the mental health impact of politics is exponentially multiplied.
Taking care of ourselves in this political climate is vital to our own health and safety. That is why, for Mental Health Awareness Month, we will hear from Colleen Reveley, LMSW and Co-owner of ARISE Counseling Center and Training Institute. It is our hope we will learn coping strategies and leave equipped to channel our anxiety into action.
Do more, worry less. If you are looking for a way to help get voters to the polls and help Democrats get elected in 2024, don’t stand back and stand by. It’s time to step up and sign up to become a Precinct Delegate or volunteer. Even though the PD filing deadline has passed, it is not too late to run as a write-in candidate. We will have forms and notaries at our monthly meetings and will guide you through the process
At DSOC meetings, we don’t just talk, we Take Action. This month we will continue to engage with voters through postcard writing. We will be distributing postcards for you to write to unregistered likely Democrats or Democrats with inconsistent voting records in our community. Donations of postcard stamps are needed. Join Us. We need all hands on deck.

May’s monthly meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, at the Huntington Woods Library. We know that the earlier start time may be a bit more challenging for those coming from work, so we will again be providing pizza. Sign up whether you will attend the meeting in person or via zoom using this link. We look forward to seeing you there, and please bring a friend!
Have you seen the new DSOC merch? In addition to our hoodies, sweatshirts, t-shirts and totes, we now have hats available in our online Store. Since we are no longer requiring dues to join our club, merchandise sales is one of our primary fundraising tools. Wearing DSOC merch not only shows you are a proud Democrat, it also promotes our club. These items also make great gifts!
